That sentence, he argues, is the first of three small inputs that separate the people getting genuine work out of Claude from the people treating it like a slightly fancier Google. There are no jailbreaks involved. No model exploits. Just three prompts, used in sequence, and a working discipline most users never adopt.
The author — who identifies himself as Chris, an Italian software scientist building practical AI guides for freelancers and solopreneurs — published the tutorial on Medium this week. The title carries a familiar internet-tutorial claim: that the three techniques will help readers "beat 99% of users." His evidence isn't statistical. It's structural.
Most people open Claude, type a question, read the answer, and move on. That habit, Chris AI Studio writes, leaves "90% of its potential on the table" — a figure he offers as observation rather than measurement.
The sharper critique is what he says happens when a user accepts the first response. Taking the first answer as the answer "isn't analysis, it's delegating your thinking."
The three techniques that follow are built to interrupt that delegation at three distinct points: the input, the output, and the retention. Each one is a single line. Each one changes the shape of the conversation.
The first one starts before Claude has a chance to be wrong.
Most Claude users write longer prompts. Chris AI Studio writes shorter ones — and ends them with a single instruction:
"Ask me clarifying questions until you're 95% confident you can complete the task successfully."
The worked example in his tutorial is a small-business-leads app, an idea to scrape public Google Business reviews and local websites for outreach data. Drop the idea into Claude with no clarifying-questions tag, he writes, and the output is a generic market overview — a template dressed up as advice.
Drop the same idea in with the tag appended, and Claude responds with a list of questions instead of an answer. "Who's the primary customer: solo founders, agencies, SMBs?" "What's your monetization model?" "What differentiates you from Apollo or ZoomInfo?"
Answer those, the author argues, and the next response isn't a market overview — it's a research report calibrated to that specific idea. The act of being questioned, he writes, is itself the value: the user discovers what they hadn't actually decided yet.
The input is now sharper. The next prompt is built for what happens after Claude answers.
Agreement is the default posture of most AI tools. It's also, Chris AI Studio argues, the least useful one.
His fix is a second prompt — what he calls the Blind Spot Challenge — fired after Claude delivers its initial output:
"Be my sparring partner. Identify my blind spots, risks, and assumptions."
The prompt switches Claude out of helpful-assistant mode and into critic mode. Applied to the same small-business-leads app, the author lists the kind of pushback the model produces. Finding leads isn't the hard part: any freelancer can search "dentists in Phoenix" and pull a list. And if hyper-local SMB data were as valuable as the founder assumes, a well-funded incumbent like Apollo — which has raised hundreds of millions — would have already built it.
"The faster you find the holes," he writes, "the faster you build something that holds."
He recommends running the Blind Spot Challenge after every major Claude output: business plans, content strategies, positioning frameworks. The sharpening, he argues, is cumulative.
But the input is sharper. The critique is sharper. The session itself, by default, still vanishes when the tab closes. The third prompt is the one that keeps it.
Every productive Claude chat, Chris AI Studio writes, contains a workflow worth keeping. Most users rebuild that workflow from scratch every new session — re-explaining their preferences, their context, their working style, every time.
The third prompt fixes that:
"Create a reusable skill based on this chat."
Claude responds, the author writes, by packaging the session into one or more skill files. From his business-validation session, the system might generate a "validate business idea" skill — the clarifying-questions flow, a research structure, and an output format bundled together — plus a separate "sparring partner" skill triggered by phrases like "challenge my thinking" or "identify my blind spots."
Saved skills work two ways. A user can type "/" to surface a menu of available skills and pick one manually, or simply describe the task naturally and let Claude recognize when to apply them.
The author shows what that looks like in practice. Run the "validate business idea" skill on a new concept — AI training for companies that want to use Claude Co-Work — answer the clarifying questions, then trigger the sparring partner, and the response, he says, lands like this:
"Your biggest competitor is Anthropic itself — they give away this education for free. Your edge needs to be the live, applied, hands-on channel."
That, Chris AI Studio writes, is the kind of output that actually changes a decision. His procedural pro-tip: review and update the skills every three or four productive sessions. They compound with refinement.
The three techniques work on Claude Desktop, claude.ai, and Chat mode. The author says they can be applied in any order, on any project. But the cumulative argument is not really about flexibility.
It's about discipline.
What he is describing is not prompt engineering in the conventional sense — no syntax tricks, no role-play scaffolding, no jailbreak workarounds. It is a working method. Front-load with questions. Pressure-test the answer. Save the workflow.
Apply it consistently enough, and the model becomes a different tool over time. Which suggests the meaningful divide between Claude users is no longer about who knows the cleverest prompt. It is about who runs the same three prompts long enough for them to compound.
